About The Conference
Food system refers to the interconnected system and process that influences nutrition, food, health, community development and agriculture. It is all about the process and infrastructure involved in feeding an increasing population growing, etc. Furthermore, sustainable food systems also capture the interaction along the food value chain from input supply and production of crops, livestock, fish etc.
A sustainable food system is a food system that delivers food nutrition security for all in such a way that the economic, social and environmental basic to generate food security and rich nutrition for future generations are not compromised. For Africa to achieve its sustainable food systems there are urgent needs to examine major components of food systems at all stages of production, processing, distribution and consumption in order to eliminate all bottlenecks.
This conference will serve as a good high level platform to discuss and proffer solutions to the influence of social, political, economic and environmental issues that are waging war against sustainable food systems in Africa. The present phenomenal of climate change, conflict, national and international food and agricultural policies, poor agricultural facilities & infrastructure, energy deficit, unchecked increasing population growth, land degradation, soil depletion, rural-urban migration and other issues that are shaping the food system. Besides, it will create a better knowledge sharing forum among all the participating relevant stakeholders from all African states.
